Are Radical Environmentalists Charities?

Ezra Levant has hammered David Suzuki over his - and other Environmental groups - political activity that runs counter to them being involved with Charity groups.  Then I saw this from Australian Coal Industry - that claims the same thing.

Jason Russel's public meltdown

A valid comment about the press's treatment public of Invisible Children's founder - Jason Russel, rather public meltdown:
With all the celebrity illnesses they uncover, the folks at TMZ should have known the minute they viewed the Russell video that he was not in his right mind. It should be beyond the pale in civil society to videotape and publicly ridicule people who are in the throes of an uncontrollable disease process. TMZ should take down its
video.
About 30yrs ago a future family member had a very similar public meltdown in court (he was an attorney) which eventually lead to a diagnosis of Manic Depression.  It is odd but I recall seeing a short clip of Jason Russel interview following controversy about his recent viral YouTube video - his behaviour and mannerisms' (over-the-top suggested "solutions") had a eerie similarity to that long-ago memory.

Reverb from 2011 Earthquake in Japan

The real consequence of the disaster in Japan was confidence in Japan's Nuclear Industry.   It evaporated.
It was clear that the crisis was essentially a man-made disaster. All but one reactors has been shut down and now Japan is facing a huge energy crisis and is building plans to import more gas and coal.

Here is the economic impact - growing Trade Deficits - an unusual issue rarely faced by that country and which is sure to create a Twin Deficits problem.

Alison in Wonderland

Alison is starting to buckle under the pressure.
  • Inquiry into Healthcare - she dropped the Doctor/Nurse Bullying part of the "Que-Jump and Intimidation" mandate to be given to retired NWT Justice John Vertes.
  • Bullying inconsistencies has all MLA's walking on egg-shells - it was ok to demote Hector Goudreau for threatening a School Board with silence "or else" but all Doug Griffiths has to do is grovel to AUMA Prez Linda Sloan and serve coffee to keep his job.
Only the press keeps reminding her of her faulty memories - and boy does she ever find that annoying!
Here is a handy online file of her Press Release recordings.

Robocalls: Get a grip

This issue has engulfed the Lamestream Media for past few weeks but a number of more level-headed commentators are dissembling the hyperbole.

  • Toronto Globe&Mail's house conservative - Margaret Wente - wrote a very good piece about how over the top things have become.
  • Sun Media's Ezra Levant did a similar piece last night highlighting the nefarious background of the sudden spike of 31,000 "Complaints" generated by the NDP/Obama astroturf group LeadNow.ca
  • Toronto Star house conservative - Susan Delacourt - also wrote about the obvious reality that modern campaigns are won/lost on the least informed/engaged voters.
  • NDP MP Pat Martin (Winnipeg Center) launched the NDP tirade last week in the House of Commons as many others were campaigning/prepping for the NDP Leadership Race debates on Sunday March 4. (Thankfully that contest will end March 24 - a week before the Federal Budget).  Businessmen Matt Meier owner of RackNine sued Martin for defamation over Martin's comments that RackNine was engaged in criminal activities.
  • Here is an account of what "real" complaints looked like right after teh Election - which were not "fabricated" like the "forgotten memory syndrome" ones were.
  • This is what REAL vote-rigging looks like.
